Some of my friends don’t wear hand wraps, should you? Does it matter?

Hi Col,
Thanks for your question.
Ultimately you don’t have to wear hand wraps if you don’t want to, in fact I have met a another professional coach that advocates not wearing them to strengthen knuckles and wrists, but to be honest, I disagree with this method.
Wraps are there to protect the knuckles and keep the wrist straight when punching and I would always recommend using them, they are easy and quick to put on (please watch our Sneak Punch TV!)
When I was younger, I remember trying it without wraps, but I found that it took the skin off of my knuckles and then took weeks to repair, a scab would form and if you are boxing regularly like I was you would knock the scab back off every session.
So I would advise that you wear wraps if you can Col.
I hope this helps and thanks again for the question.
Best wishes and good luck!
